What Is Included
1 × Modular Handguard Body, precision-fit for the Umarex Notos (nine preinstalled M4 brass threaded inserts arranged in rows of three at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock)
1 × MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny Rail Section, factory-installed at the 6 o’clock position and easily repositionable with a hex key
3 × Grade 12.9 Alloy Steel Fasteners, black oxide coated for strength and corrosion resistance
Overview
The Umarex Notos Modular Handguard System (MHS) by Dark Range Systems converts the Notos into a more capable and modular platform while preserving balance and minimal weight. The octagonal slip-on body provides stable ergonomics and a low-profile mounting surface for accessories. Optional left- and right-side rail kits are available separately to expand mounting options for lights, lasers, and sling points.
Design and Usage
The MHS is engineered for a precision slip-on fit over the Notos air cylinder. The handguard seats against the receiver to achieve a secure, rattle-free installation without permanent modification. The included Picatinny rail section attaches through the preinstalled brass inserts using the supplied alloy fasteners; the fasteners are used only for securing rail sections and not for holding the handguard body in place.
The octagonal profile offers ergonomic purchase and visual alignment with the receiver. The design maintains concentric alignment with the barrel and preserves regulator and tank access. Installation requires no tools to fit the handguard body; repositioning or adding rail sections requires only a hex key. Once installed, the handguard remains stable during handling, transport, or field use.
Materials
The MHS body is produced from Fiberon PET-CF17, a carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer selected for high rigidity, thermal stability, and a refined matte finish with minimal visible layer texture. Hardware is Grade 12.9 Alloy Steel with a black oxide finish for repeatable alignment and corrosion resistance. Materials are chosen to balance light weight, structural integrity, and field durability.
Quality and Inspection
Each handguard is produced to tight dimensional tolerances and inspected for fit and function prior to shipping. Functional checks include fit over the air cylinder, rail alignment, and fastener seating. Minor surface texture or layer variation is an inherent characteristic of additive manufacturing and does not affect performance or structural integrity.
