Overview

The Umarex Notos MHS Side Rail Expansion Kit by Dark Range Systems adds left- and right-side Picatinny mounting capability to the Modular Handguard System (MHS).
Engineered for precision alignment and repeatable fit, each rail section attaches to the preinstalled brass M4 inserts at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, allowing secure installation of lights, lasers, or sling mounts without disturbing barrel or regulator alignment.

Design and Usage

Each rail section is machined to MIL-STD-1913 specification for full accessory compatibility.
The modular layout maintains the MHS’s low-profile design while expanding mounting flexibility for competition, hunting, or field configurations.

Installation uses the included Grade 12.9 fasteners and requires only a 2.5 mm hex key. The kit integrates directly with existing insert locations—no drilling, adhesives, or permanent modifications required. Once mounted, the rails seat flush against the handguard body for a rigid, rattle-free fit.

Materials

Rail sections are 3D printed from Fiberon PET-CF17 carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer, offering exceptional rigidity, dimensional stability, and impact resistance.
Hardware is Grade 12.9 Alloy Steel, black oxide treated for corrosion resistance and long-term strength.
The result is a lightweight yet structurally solid upgrade engineered for real-world use.

Quality and Inspection

Every kit is produced to exact dimensional standards and verified for insert alignment, hardware fit, and surface quality.
Minor texture variation is a normal characteristic of high-performance additive manufacturing and does not affect performance or fit.
